It occurs to me that we Iberians might find a less nonsensical manner in which to conduct our inter-regional affairs, only if we turn our thoughts from the cul-de-sac despair of today to how we can improve matters for the future.
It is quite absurd that we keep frittering way hard-earned taxpayers' money when there are perfectly reasonable alternatives. I'm sure many citizens in Central Spain are more than ready to ditch their autonomous governments in favour of a more efficient decentralized administration without all the cumbersome elements, such as large local parliaments and duplicate bureaucracies.
I think there is a fair chance that Basques, Catalans, Castilians, and probably Galicians and the various islanders will find it more comfortable to share a confederation on equal terms. It is quite more sensible, in my opinion, that going it alone. It would also provide us with an identity, new and age-old at the same time, which would make our societies stronger, more dynamic and more self-confident.
